Effective date: 2026-07-24. This is the current, active version of the Fixynest privacy policy.
Fixynest is a small independent publication about smart home troubleshooting. This page explains what personal information the site collects, what we do with it, and what choices you have. If a term here is unclear, write to us at the address in the last section and we will explain in plain language.
What we collect
When you read an article, our servers and hosting provider automatically receive standard web-request information: your IP address, browser and device type, the page you requested, the page that referred you to us, and the timestamp of the request. We keep server-log entries in raw form for up to fourteen days for security and abuse detection, and aggregated (non-identifying) totals indefinitely.
If you send us a message through the contact page or by email, we receive whatever you choose to put in that message, including your email address. If you subscribe to a newsletter, we store your email address for as long as you are subscribed and until you unsubscribe.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of first-party cookies. Some are essential, such as the cookie that stores your cookie-consent choice so we do not ask again on every page. Others are analytics cookies that count visits and tell us which articles are read most. Our own cookies do not build advertising profiles about you and are not used to follow you around the internet.
Separately, the third-party advertising and analytics partners described below may set their own cookies when you view our pages. Those cookies are controlled by those partners under their own privacy policies, and you can manage them using the controls in the next section.
Advertising, Google AdSense, and personalization controls
Fixynest is supported in part by advertising. We work with third-party advertising partners, including Google AdSense (publisher ID pub-1987748223311169), to display ads on our pages. These partners may use cookies and similar technologies to measure ad performance and to show ads that are relevant to you based on your prior visits to this website and to other websites across the internet.
As a third-party vendor, Google uses cookies to serve ads on our site. Google’s use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to Fixynest and other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
You are in control of how ads are personalized to you. You can review, adjust, or completely turn off personalized advertising from Google using Google’s official, free tools:
- Google Ads Settings, to manage the interests and personalization Google uses for ads: https://adssettings.google.com
- Google My Ad Center, to control the ads you see and the data used to personalize them: https://myadcenter.google.com
Turning off personalized advertising does not remove ads from the sites you visit. It simply means the ads you see will be less tailored to your interests. If you would like to opt out of personalized advertising from many other companies at once, you can also use the industry tools at aboutads.info/choices, or, if you are in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu. Google’s own advertising cookies policy is published at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Analytics
We use a privacy-respecting analytics service that anonymizes IP addresses. It tells us how many people read each article and which country they are in, at the level of the country rather than the city or street. Our analytics provider does not use this data to serve advertising. We may also use Google Search Console for aggregated search-performance data, which is derived from Google’s own systems and does not require additional cookies on our site.
How we share information
We do not sell personal information. The only parties that receive information related to your visit are the service providers we need to actually run the site: our web host, our email newsletter provider if you subscribe, and the advertising and analytics partners named above. Each of those parties is bound by its own privacy policy and by the contractual terms under which they process data on our behalf.
We will disclose information if we are legally required to do so, for example in response to a valid subpoena. If that ever happens, we will tell you unless the legal instrument forbids notice.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have a set of rights over the personal information a site holds about you. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal information, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In California, the CCPA gives you comparable rights, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of any sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information).
To exercise any of these rights, write to us at the privacy address in the last section. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within thirty days.
Children
Fixynest is written for adults maintaining their own smart home devices. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under thirteen. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to Fixynest, please write to us at the privacy address in the last section and we will delete it.
How to contact us
For any privacy question, request under GDPR or CCPA, or notice of a data concern, write to legal [at] fixynest [dot] com. We monitor that inbox on business days and respond to verified requests within thirty days as required.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when we start using a new service that involves personal information, when a law we are subject to changes, or when we find a section that could be clearer. Whenever we update the policy, we change the effective date at the top and preserve older versions on request through the privacy contact address.
